What is a Limestone?
Limestone is actually a “young” Marble, formed from the consolidation of seashells and sediment. Each stone can be expected to have a certain amount of surface pitting, fossilized shells, fissures and mineral striations.
Limestone floors should be sealed to protect the stone’s natural beauty and performance.
Problems
A Limestone floor is actually quite porous and prone to scratching, staining, and fracturing. It also needs to be allowed to breathe, and should not be covered by synthetic sealers or urethane products often applied by cleaning companies not experienced in Limestone floor cleaning, sealing, and restoration.

LIMESTONE FLOOR CLEANING AND RESTORATION
To make Limestone floors clean, smooth and reflective, we employ both mechanical and chemical cleaning processes.
Step 1
Diamond grind the surface of the stone with a course grade diamond abrasive pad to remove surface scratches.
Step 2
Diamond hone the surface of the stone with a finer diamond abrasive, this process makes the surface of the stone very smooth and provides a satin finish.
Step 3
Diamond polish the surface of the stone with a finer diamond abrasive pads producing a high polished finish.
Chemical process
We apply a chemical process called powder polishing that reacts with the Calcite in the stone and produces a high gloss finish, note this process can only happen on certain types of Limestone floors.
Repairs
While carrying out these works we deep clean grout lines, resin repair cracks and holes, hone out stains, dull spots, etch marks and light scratches.
Sealing
Finally, we seal the floor with the correct natural stone floor sealer to help protect the Limestone and grout lines from spills and stains, making the Limestone water soluble.
